on monday we started our saw horse,
the first thing we had to do was choose a piece of timber and put it through the planner, this was too plane th wood so its straight and square.
The next step was to mark th sawstool top. we had to mark out where the legs would be going, then we had to cut the leg ready to join to th sawstool top. then chisel out where th leg was gna fit. one problem ifound was tht my angle was rounded, ths was because iwas using the chisel th upside down lol.
after th joints were chiseled out and th leg was cut ileft for th last period.

drawing board
today we started our drawing boards,
ohhh cant forget , igot my tools today yuuuusss!
welll anyway we learnt how to use a biscut cutter! because we had to piece 3 boards together as the base of our drawing boards. once the three pieces had been put together iglued them and used a sash clamp to hold it together! then ihad to leave it till the glue dried.
in the mean while we were taught by jared and bjorn (tutors) how to use a skillsaw safely. satey tips 1.make sure you keep the cord away from the saw when using it , prferably behind your leg!!! 2.always wear th correct safetey gear especially when working wth power tools eg. earmuffs, goggles etc
we learnt how to do two types of cuts wth the skillsaw . the first was the crosscut (this is when you cut across the grain of the wood) and the second the ripcut(when you cut wth the grain)
these techniques would be used later for the feet of our drawing board.!!!!!
thatts all ihad enough time for today , igot alot of catching up to do .

carpentry intro
weeeeeeelll,
my first day at m.i.t. where to start? (at the begining lol)
so we start at 8'oclock in the a.m and iwas about two minutes late for the first day hahahaha
but its good coz iknw acouple people (sonny bristow and william moore).
we all gatherd in the workshop to meet all th tutors an get split into our classes , me and sonny got stuck with jared th TURKEY hahahahaha nah algood.
Then he took us for a tour around the whole m.i.t , both north and south campus!
after th tour we did some group activities tht helpd with little but important aspects of our course like safety hazardz, basic nail hammering, wood cutting(with a hand saw) nd also estimating distances by eye !
after all the seperate classes finised all th activities we had a logg cutting comp wth a hand saw. and we won muahahahahaha good technique iguess lol.
so tht was pretty much th day in a nut shell , pretty cruzy if you ask me 1
